I’m still getting used to being a blogger, which means I’m getting used to the idea of being able to share updates and information rather than only posting about certain topics. I have a few important things to share about what’s happening with Defend The Pen and my intentions for this blog.
Moving Away From A Freelance Focus
Initially, I was going to have more of a focus on freelance writing. Unfortunately, that’s just not possible at this time. Instead, I want to do more to help writers in general. I’d also like to discuss my novels without getting “off topic.” As you can see from certain recent posts, I might be more inclined to talk about things that have nothing to do with writing per se.
So while not a general blog, look for a wider focus on different types of writing and self-expression!
Free eBook On Becoming A Freelance Writer Now A Free Course!
Even though this blog will be more about writing (my writing especially) in general, I STILL intend to help out aspiring freelancers. Instead of an eBook, I’ve decided to create a free course. How? Well…I kind of built one already and then forgot about it.
I’m perfectly serious. Long before I even had a name for the blog I intended to start, I created a series of PowerPoints and emails to instruct my family members (who were helping me at the time) about becoming a freelance writer or editor. I created some really detailed stuff, only to promptly forget about it later on.
But I remembered and it made my upcoming eBook a moot point. Why create a simple free book when you can create an easy-to-follow free course?
My goals for the course:
- It will be in five parts
- It will include a customizable resume and cover letter (ALSO FREE!)
- It will come with a brief ebook that summarizes the main points of the course
- Did I mention it’s FREE to subscribers?
I’m so excited to for this! I’m already brainstorming what I’ll keep from the old PowerPoints and emails and how the course will flow. I will likely have an INTENSIVE version of the course that explains some things not included in the basic version. Don’t worry, it won’t be pricey. And it will have some even more awesome stuff included.
Doing Lots And Lots Of Writing…
Well, I joined the 20to50K Facebook group a while back, an inspiring community built around the belief that if you write and release 20+ books, you can earn at least 50,000 per year. I was more or less inspired by the idea of writing 20 books. So I did what ANY sane aspiring novelist would do:
Create 20 Writing Projects And Start Several At The Same Time!
Well, technically not a victory until I finish at least one. But I AM optimistic. So much so that I’ll be creating an entirely NEW blog/website in the future devoted specifically to my writing. So you’ll want to be on the lookout for that as well.
I just wanted to bring everyone up to speed so that you can know what to expect in the coming weeks. Have any questions? Please share them in the comment section below.
